It was nearly 100 years ago when a spade was first pushed into the ground of a Bedfordshire field and the history of Withy Pool began. But it wasn't until the 1950's when Dick Walker 'put it on the map' describing it as one of the best carp waters in the country. In the mid-80's, Kevin Maddocks purchased the pool and he was to transform it into what it is today a unique water where nearly every carp landed is over 30 pounds, and there's always the 'danger' of hooking the biggest freshwater fish ever landed in England - a staggering 61 pound catfish! This programme is not just about the pool, it's also about the syndicate that fish there. It traces the history of the place, the work carried out by Kevin, winter successes and the opening week of the '96 season.
