Yesterday's Britain - 40's : short review
Through the use of cine-film footage, this programme provides a portrait of life in Britain during the 1940s. Features insights on: Fashion - after the war years, people could finally focus on enjoying themselves and a high point was the Whitsun holiday and dressing up for the Easter parade. Technology - for the first time, phone boxes appeared on the scene and children listened to the wireless. Transport - farm machinery particularly made huge advances, with progression from the traditional pony and trap onto the latest Fordson tractor. Entertainment - with swinging bands and music halls, this was the generation where a sense of camaraderie was strongly present.
Kevin, Samantha and Rob are members of a secret club, called 'Foolproof' where they entertain themselves by developing high-tech plans for the perfect robberies. Never meaning for the real crimes to be committed, the group are suddenly thrown into turmoil when Leo Gillette (David Suchet) steals a plan for a diamond heist and pulls it off.
