Root Of Evil - A series of brutal murders take place during the Glasgow Garden Festival and Mayfest. When Taggart and Jardine are called in to investigate it looks as though the Glasgow loansharks are being repaid somewhat differently to how they expected. Double Jeopardy - Taggart and Jardine are called in to investigate when the body of Rowena Bain is found in a wood. Although it looks like suicide it seems strange that Rowena had appointments in her diary for the day she died and it looked as though she was looking forward to moving to Bavaria with her husband and daughter. Flesh And Blood - Taggart investigates a series of killings the first of which is a young social worker, Janie Ross. When an unexpected cache of explosives is found Tagget wonders if the two cases are connected. Love Knot - Taggart finds himself in the Scottish Highlands after a woman's body is dredged from the River Clyde, her face deliberately disfigured and her hands bound by climbing rope.
