CineRail Modern Image - Crew Works - The Inside Story

Crewe has been associated with locomotive construction since 1846. From the days of the London and North Western Railway, LMS, British Rail and now ADtranz, the tradition of high quality workmanship has been maintained. ADtranz allowed exclusive access to their Crewe operation giving a rare insight into the high technology world of modern traction maintenance. In addition, locomotive types built here are shown at work in the 50's and 60's. 1996 saw the 150th Anniversary of the LNWR and to mark the occasion ADtranz opened their doors to the public on the 17th August 1996 and a 15-minute supplement shows the event.

Ratcatcher

Set in Glasgow during the dustbinmen's strike during the late seventies and centres on an impoverished Glasgow family and the dreams and sexual awakening of a 12-year-old (William Eadie) who's riddled with guilt over his role in the horseplay that led to another boy's drowning. He feels alienated from his drunken, adulterous father, and he becomes intrigued by the half-completed house he discovers on a bus trip to a rural area which soon will become part of the city's suburbs.
