Jimmie Rainwood is framed by crooked cops and and sent to a prison where violence, humiliation and rape are daily events. Coached by a longtime con, he soon learns to fight fire with fire and on his eventual parole, seeks justice using the skills he learned behind bars. Selleck copes well with an unusually tough role, although the expected violent come-uppance is a long time come-upping.
