Stranglers, The

The Stranglers were among the predecessors of Punk who began by playing the raucous UK pub band scene. When the notion of punk manifested, The Stranglers were a perfect fit for the movement. Founded in Chiddingfold, England in 1974 by Hugh Cornwell (guitar/vox), Jean-Jacques Burnell (bass/vox), Dave Greenfield (keys) and Jet Black (drums), The Stranglers maintained an unmistakable stage presence by always dressing in black and producing a hard, dark and intriguingly moody sound. This is the classic 1978 line-up of the UK's best art punks captured live in San Francisco on their first US tour. Culling material from their first two albums, this in demand programme is now available on DVD. 30 minutes of challenging, high-energy chaos from one of the best of the first wave of British punk rock. Tracklist: Get A Grip On Yourself, Burning Up Time, Daganham Dave, Bring On The Nubiles, Dead Ringer, London Lady and Hanging Around.

Holocaust - The Yellow Star - Persecution Of The Jews In Europe 1933-1945

This Oscar-nominated documentary is a remembrance of the past as well a warning for the future. From 1933 until the final defeat of the Third Reich in 1945, the Jews suffered horrendous persecution throughout Europe. Never before had the world witnessed such contempt for human life and on such a grand scale. In a climate of national fervour during the 1930s, politicians were only too happy to point the finger of blame at the Jews as people looked for answers. Few, if any, could have seen how the views of one man would unfold - that man was Adolf Hitler. 'One hundred dead are a catastrophe millions of dead are a statistic.' - Adolf Eichmann. Contains some scenes of a violent and disturbing nature.
