Flatlanders, The - Live From Austin TX

The Flatlanders are Joe Ely, Jimmie Dale Gilmore and Butch Hancock. They initially formed in 1972 but only lasted one year because they were completely rejected by the country music establishment. This may have been in part due to their unconventional yet complimentary styles - Joe the street-wise rocker, Jimmie Dale the mystic with the classic country voice and Butch the cerebral folk singer. The three members went on to have very successful solo careers and did not reform until 1998 when Robert Redford's production company requested they reform to record a track for the soundtrack of The Horse Whisperer. They enjoyed the recording so much that they decided to continue the recording and that resulted in 2002's Now Again and 2004's Wheels Of Fortune. Beethoven - Symphonies No. 8 & No. 6

In 1990, Austrian conductor Nikolaus Harnoncourt, backed by the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, performed Beethoven's Symphony No.8 and No.6 ('The Pastoral'). This film, produced and directed by Christopher Swann, was recorded live in the Stefaniensaal--one of the finest concert halls in Europe--renowned for its outstanding acoustics.
