Four episodes. Death Trap - When the son of a local politician is assassinated, Taggart and the team are called in to investigate. The son was a leader of a local protest group, causing problems for the government. Jardine is taken off the case and decides to continue working on it in his own way, with serious repercussions. Fire Burn - A simple case of arson at a factory turns into something much more sinister when a body is found in basement of the building. Burke rises to the challenge and uses the case to test his officers. Reid is assigned to a missing person's case which ends up coinciding with Burke's investigation, much to his annoyance. Watertight - The body of a young prostitute is found floating dead in a river. Ross contacts his informant, Sadie, for help in the case and is led closer to the truth. However, later she turns up dead and Ross must face the consequences of his actions. The Friday Event - A sixth form boy is discovered in the grounds of his school, initially believed to have committed suicide. It later emerges that his death was no accident and there are links with drug dealing. The case attracts a lot of media interest and as a result the corpse of the boy is later found to have been mutilated. Events begin to escalate as another schoolboy is then murdered and the pressure is on Reid to come up with some answers.
