When rag trade tycoon Thornton Melon (Rodney Dangerfield), pays a surprise visit to his student son Jason (Keith Gordon), he's horrified to discover that his pride and joy is merely the towel boy for the diving team and is about to drop out. To dissuade him and to simultaneously make amends for his own lapse of education, Melon senior enrols as a student. But Thornton approaches college somewhat differently to his son knowing that cash has a way of lubricating the wheels of academia. Money being no problem, he hires N.A.S.A experts to help him with his physics, gets extra tuition from his beautiful literature professor and creates merry mayhem with his youthful antics!
