Open Championship - 2004 The Official Film
The Official Film of the 133rd Open Championship. For the second year running an unknown American walked away with The Open Championship. Todd Hamilton claimed the ancient trophy in a four-hole play-off with Ernie Els after they had tied on 10 under par 274. The unknown American had held on grimly to his overnight lead throughout a day of greatly fluctuating fortunes as six of the leading players in the world rankings tried to dislodge him. He faltered only at the last, hitting his tee shot into the right rough and his second close against the grandstands on the left. He was allowed to drop without penalty but ran the ball well past the hole and had to settle for a five. Els had birdied the 16th and 17th holes to get on terms and his par four was good enough to send the Championship into extra time. Els is the play-off specialist, having won The Open at Muirfield in 2002 after four-man tie that went to five extra holes before he claimed the title. He also won the first of his two US Open titles over 18 holes. But it was to be Hamilton's day. Final Positions: 1) Todd Hamilton -10, 2) Ernie Els -10, 3) Phil Mickelson -9, 4) Lee Westwood -6, T5) Thomas Levet -5, T5) Davis Love III -5, T7) Retief Goosen -4, T7) Scott Verplank -4, T9) Mike Weir -3 T9) Tiger Woods -3. Now you can relive all the drama of the 133rd Open Championship in this official review.
