Norman McLaren's career has been characterised by creative and technical brilliance and by his humour and sympathy for the human condition. His films are world renowned and have won him over 500 awards, including an Oscar (R), as he continues to extend the boundaries of film, awing audiences with his innovation. Narcissus features 3 of McLaren's finest works combining the grace of dance with the artistry of film. Narcissus - The art of film, dance and music coalesce to celebrate the ancient myth and it's drama of timeless significance. With frame speeds from 2 to 48 per second, as opposed to the normal 24, freely intercut and reversed, the emotional drama of the myth is truly portrayed. Pas De Deau - Features the dancing of Margaret Mercier and Vincent Warren, highlighted by rear lighting against a completely black shooting stage with individual frames exposed up to 11 times to create the multiple imagery. Ballet Adagio: An articulation of 'Spring Water' in which McLaren has reduced the frame speed by 4 to increase the viewers perception of balletic movement, heightening the aesthetic movement and emotional response in order that the viewer can observe the skill and artistry of each arabesque, pirouette and jete executed.
Back together on stage for the first time in over 30 years, Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent, the driving force behind the legendary 1960's beat group The Zombies, perform live at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London.
