McNaughton directs with style and verve, this little gem which threatens more actual violence than it delivers and features a top-notch performance from Murray as a club owner and vicious mobster. When self-effacing cop De Niro inadvertently saves Murray's life, he lends him barmaid Glory as a 'gift' for the week. However when the unlikely couple fall in love and Murray arrives to take her back, the trouble begins. Eminently watchable.
