Grand Slam

It is the tale of one group of Welsh supporters that is told in Gwenlyn Parry?s classic comedy aptly titled Grand Slam. During the course of the film we discover that ?grand slam? can mean different things to different people and that there are challenges that have to be faced off the pitch that are almost more daunting than those facing the players on the pitch. The film stars Windsor Davies as Mog Jones, Huw Griffith (the Welsh actor who won an Oscar for his role in Ben Hur) as Caradog Lloyd Evans, an undertaker by profession, Dewi Morris as his son, Sion Probert as Maldwyn Novello Pugh, the boutique owner, and Sharon Morgan as the accommodating French hostess.

George Of The Jungle

He grows up to be a hunky, heroic, but clumsy king of the jungle. When a beautiful career woman, Ursula, becomes lost in the jungle, George races to the rescue. Swept off his feet he decides to leave behind his animal friends and follow Ursula to the big city of San Francisco...

Circle, The

A powerful drama depicting the day to day lives of several young Iranian women and the harsh and brutal society in which they live. One of them gives birth to a child and we see the ensuing despair when they discover the baby is a girl. The film touches upon the myriad of hardships endured by women living in the male dominated world of bureaucracy and the blatant inequalities that women suffer. Yet, even in the midst of this stifling environment we see the strength of a small circle of women and the courage that cannot be extinguished.

theEYE - Malcolm Morley

Malcolm Morley is one of the most significant and influential painters working today. Born in England but active in the United States since the late 1950s, Morley has developed an intensely individual vision embracing, but never determined by, autobiography, politics, psychoanalysis, myth, the visual culture of his time and the limitless potential of paint. Filmed as Morley works in his distinctive manner on a spectacular new canvas, this documentary features the artist's provocative reflections on his life, painting technique, influences and concerns. It also illustrates a wide range of his paintings from the earliest abstract works, through the painstakingly precise depictions of reproductions (on postcards, from travel brochures) of ships, contemporary scenes and Old Masters, to the catastrophe pictures of the 1970s. Paintings engaging with ancient cultures followed, and then works based on the cardboard cut-out aeroplane and boat kits which Morley has made since his youth. Most recently, he has returned to paintings of news photographs, exploring a striking and challenging new range of imagery.
