Natalia Makarova's production of La Bayadere for the London Royal Ballet was originally created in 1980 for the American Ballet Theatre, the first complete production of La Bayadere to have been performed in the West. The last act has been extensively reconstructed, with the work having been performed for many years in its incomplete state and here features the stellar names of Altynai Asylmuratova, Irek Mukhamedov and Darcey Bussell. John Lanchbery, who arranged the music and who conducts this performance died on 26th Feb 2003. This production was revived at Covent Garden in October and November 2003 in tribute to him.
