This year is 1901. On a sailing holiday off the North Sea coast of Germany, Arthur Davies encounters a mysterious yachtsman and his beautiful daughter and accidentally discovers German plans to invade Britain. With the aid of his Foreign office friend Carruthers they set out to solve the mystery surrounding the 'Riddle of the Sands'.
