Tempest

The Duke of Milan, Prospero, and his daughter Miranda have been banished to a remote island by the Duke's evil brother, Antonio. Twelve years later Antonio and his companions are shipwrecked on the same island by Prospero, whose aim is to marry his daughter to Ferdinand, son of the King of Naples and thus bring peace between his former Dukedom and the Kingdom of Naples. In Jarman's adaptation, the style is based on the punk era, with haunting and erotic imagery.

Black Orpheus

In this version of the ages-old tale, Orpheus is a streetcar conductor and star Carnival dancer who is betrothed to the determined Mira but is in love with Eurydice. As Mira and Death himself pursue the doomed Orpheus and his lover through the streets of Rio de Janeiro, Carnival literally brings the streets to life. Lush photography and the timeless and brilliant bossa nova sounds of Jobim give the film a distinct power and beauty.

State Of Mind

Grace Hazlett with her young son Adam, moves back to her old family home after she discovers that her husband has been having an affair. Her mother, a busy GP, is widowed and set in her old ways so finds it difficult to adjust to having people living with her once more. In the middle of this emotional turmoil, Grace, an experienced criminal psychologist, is asked to determine the innocence or guilt of Julian Latimer, a man who has killed his wife but claims to have no memory of the incident. As Grace begins to work with Julian she begins to lose her objectivity as she finds her own marital experiences disconcertingly echoed at every turn.
