Orde Wingate

Three part television series from 1976 about Orde Wingate, a British general in the Second World War. He played a major role in the campaigns fought in the Far East, where he helped revolutionise jungle warfare. In 1940-1941 he was based near the Ethiopian-Sudanese border where he led a guerrilla force, the 'Gideon's Force' against the Italian Army. Later in 1942 he was sent to Burma. Here he formed his 'Wingate's Raiders', the Chindits and proceeded to operate along the Irrawaddy River where they disrupted the Japanese supply lines and gathered and sent back information to the RAF.

Europeans, The

Based on the novel by Henry James. Autumn 1850 and a few miles outside Boston, the household of the dour Mr. Wentworth receives two unannounced visitors from Europe, Eugenia and Felix, the daughter and son of his half sister.
