Three episodes. The Rose Rent - Brother Cadfael's routine monastic life as the abbey's herbalist is rudely interrupted by a deadly scramble for the hand of a beautiful widow. St. Peter's Fair - The Fourth Chronicle of Brother Cadfael tells of the death of Master Thomas of Bristol, stripped of his gown, rings and dignity and found naked as the day he was born with a knife wound to the chest. Brother Cadfael leaves his beloved herb garden to search for the murderer. The Raven In The Foregate - Christmas 1141. A scholarly and disciplined priest comes to fill the vacant living of the Holy Cross, but he lacks the common touch. When he is found drowned in the mill-pond, suspicion falls on a young man who has been sent to work in Brother Cadfael's garden. It is left to Brother Cadfael to try and find out if the young man is guilty.
