Squid And The Whale, The

The patriarch (Jeff Daniels) of an eccentric Brooklyn family claims to once have been a great novelist, but he has settled into a teaching job. When his wife (Laura Linney) discovers a writing talent of her own, jealousy divides the family, leaving two teenage sons to forge new relationships with their parents. Linney's character begins dating her younger son's tennis coach. Meanwhile, Daniels' character has an affair with the student his older son is pursuing.

Real Madrid had dominated the European cup from its inception in 1956 and on that hot summers day in Glasgow, Real played some of the best football ever seen and caused astonishment all over the world. Although the German side opened the scoring, the white machine eventually crushed them. The four goals by Ferenc Puskas together with Alfredo di Stefano's three proved enough to certify the superiority of the squad that Miguel Munoz was coaching at the time. Verdi - I Vespri Siciliani

Luca Ronconi's highly acclaimed production of Verdi's rarely performed opera, I Vespri Siciliani, was recorded at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna in 1986. American soprano Susan Dunn sings the demanding role of Elena. Equally powerful are the performances of Leo Nucci as Guido di Monforte, the great romantic tenor Veriano Luchetti as Arrigo and Bonaldo Giaiotti in the challenging role of Procida. The cast also includes a young Anna Caterina Antonacci as Ninetta. The production is conducted incisively by Riccardo Chailly.
