Face Of Another, The

Tatsuya Nakadai stars as a man 'buried alive behind eyes without a face', the film addresses the illusive nature of identity and the agony of its absence. A man facially disfigured in a laboratory fire persuades his doctor to fashion him a lifelike mask modeled on a complete stranger - completely different from his own face. Shortly after the mask is made, he successfully seduces his own wife but becomes angry at her falling for a handsome stranger. When confronted, she claims she knew it was him all along, but his worries about his looks, and the way the mask seems to influence his identity, lead him to question everything.

MacMillan - Prince Of The Pagodas, The - Bussell/ Cope

Sir Kenneth MacMillan's glorious version of The Prince of The Pagodas provides a fascinating and magnificent spectacle of classical dance on the grandest scale. Benjamin Britain's exotic score, inspired by the sounds of the gamelan, is the only one that he created for ballet. The oriental theme is followed through with Nicholas Georgiadis's enchanting designs, enhancing the fairytale atmosphere. This production by the Royal Ballet, filmed at Covent Garden in 1990, stars Darcey Bussell as Princess Rose and Jonathan Cope as the Prince. This is the role that launched Bussell's career. MacMillan had noted her exceptional talent while she was still a student and he chose her to create the role of Princess Rose for him.

Crisis

Nelly lives quietly with her foster mother in a small town where she gives piano lessons. To make ends meet, she also lets out a room to Ulf, who is in love with her. Wanting to attend a charity ball, Nelly's foster mother saves hard to buy her a new dress for the function. However, Nelly's real mother, Jenny, also buys a dress which Nelly decides to wear instead. The attraction of the dress and the life her mother appears to lead, encourages Nelly to move to Stockholm to join her. Life there is not as expected as Nelly is introduced to the darker side of human nature...
