Who were the painters of Lascaux? How to explain the striking stylistic unity of certain clusters, or the contradictions between similar figures that may have been painted in different periods? Days Long Gone - This was the first film to be made about the discovery of Lascaux by children from the village of Montignac. The village school teacher appears as himself in this short film (12 mins), shot in 1942. In the Dordogne of World War II, equipped with candles and pocket torches, the children stumble upon the most fabulous cave paintings of the Old Stone Age. This exceptional and unprecedented document was made a year after the discovery of Lascaux.

Border, The

Laramie Project, The

A group of young actors and writers from a New York Theatre company spent a year in Laramie making a film which tells the true story about the murder of Matthew Shepard, a twenty one year old Wyoming University student. The film re-enacts the impact of Shepard's death on the small community which became 'the hate capital of America'. We follow Matthew as he visits a bar about an hour's drive from Laramie, his subsequent kidnapping and beating, the discovery of him tied to a fence, the vigil at his bedside, his death, funeral and the trial of his killers. The Laramie Project uses real news reports with actors portraying friends and family.
