This is the first of three one-hour programmes charting the valuable contribution made by the RAF to the Allied war effort. With bombing raids carried out every night and the continuous threat from the mighty German Luftwaffe, the RAF were at the forefront of the Allied campaign. This programme takes a look at the lives of the brave pilots and aircrew who emerged victorious against the superior numbers of the German Luftwaffe. Homage is also paid to the valuable service provided by the personnel and ground crews.

Documentary looking at events as they unfolded in chronological order, of the Second World War. Volume Two continues the story with The Battle of Britain in 1940, the North African campaign and the fall of Stalingrad in 1943.

Piccadilly

Set in a once fashionable nightclub in Piccadilly, the owner, Valentine Wilmot, suddenly happens upon a potential new act. Shosho, a former scullery maid, embodies an Eastern eroticism which excites him immediately and she soon becomes a major draw at the club. A bitter jealousy is sparked between her and Mabel, Valentine's former lover and star dancer.
